Meet Penelope
Penelope always loved to bake pies. Even as a Penelopette she shunned the Easy Bake oven and went right for the big kids’ kitchen with the glass mixing bowls and the crinkle of the parchment paper.
When Penelope was older and would be invited to a dinner party or a house warming, instead of flowers or wine she would bake a fresh pie in a nice, fluted ceramic dish and bring it as a gift.
Sooner or later someone, usually a guy, would suggest breaking out the pie. Suddenly there was only one conversation in the room and it was about the pie, and then about baking pies, and then about the friends and family who loved the pies, and then invariably, about love.
Penelope soon realized that a pie was a conversation-starter, a relationship-builder and a true memory maker. And that the real gift was everyone talking together around a table.
So here are Penelope’s favorite pie recipes. Bake one and start a fresh, juicy conversation of your own.
